One band fits a drawer

Of the six price bands we publish, one applies to a Wolf drawer: the control board or touch panel. On a warming drawer that means the keypad hidden along the top of the drawer, the control board behind its front panel and the relay board at the back. On a microwave drawer it means the key unit and the boards that run the panel. Every other drawer part is priced from the part number for its serial, in writing, once the fault has been measured, because those parts differ too much between models and generations to share one range.

What decides a warming drawer figure

Several of the reasons a warming drawer stays cold cost nothing to put right. A timer that has run out, a mode never chosen after switching on, showroom mode left set, or a drawer still switched off after a power cut all look like failures, and we try to rule them out on the phone before the $89 is spent. When the meter does find a part, the candidates are few: the element in the ceiling of the drawer, the thermal cut-out on the back panel, the thermistor that reads the temperature, and the switch in the corner of the drawer frame. Each is a separate part with a price of its own.

What decides a microwave drawer figure

A microwave drawer has two kinds of repair, and they are priced apart. Once the lock, the path and the supply are cleared, a drawer that will not open or close is a mechanism question: the gear motor under the cavity, the rack gear it drives, the oil damper and the latch switches. A drawer that moves normally but does not heat is a question for the microwave side, the parts that make the heat. Either kind of repair usually means lifting the unit out of the cabinet, as Wolf expects for these drawers, and Wolf’s manual adds a microwave leakage test once any work on the drawer or its latch is done.

How the $89 works on a drawer

The visit pays for the trip, for reaching the drawer’s control or bringing the unit out as far as the diagnosis needs, and for measuring the suspect part. If you go ahead, the $89 comes off the repair. If the part can no longer be obtained, or the repair is not worth doing on that drawer, we say so, and nothing is owed beyond the visit.
